FOLGEND*: Disability Identity in Art
Ort:
- FolgenD* room in the HFBK + Online
We are glad to present within FOLGEND* under the queer feminist line and themes of Care, Vulnerability and Healing the artwork of Luna Scales.
Working with the video media, Luna Scales places herself in front of the camera to document a moment of intimacy, vulnerability and a strong sense of existence. When she is looked upon as an object through a video camera lens, she is fragile and at the same time powerful, insisting on her mere presence. She acts as a figure that not only represents but also investigates and reflects about her identity as being a woman and having a physical disability.
She often positions herself as the familiar art-historical-trope, the naked female body, that exists for the spectator's feelings and demands, to be seen and valued – through this position she talks about her experience in being the "deviant" body as well, which is also examined, measured and classified. Luna Scales lives and works in Copenhagen (Denmark).
The Q & A will be held in English.
