2021/04/22: BarTur Photo Award 2021
A key focus of the BarTur Photo Award has always been the immense power photography has in influencing the way that we understand and engage with the world around us. Using photography as a means to express ideas and values, the BarTur Photo Award 2021 will bring important issues to the forefront, crossing boundaries and help bring communities together.
In its seventh edition, the BarTur Photo Award also aims to transform the lives and careers of those who participate, like it has done for the previous winners. The BarTur Photo Award (2011 and 2012) in collaboration with University of the Arts London, and the BarTur Photobook Award (2014, 2015 & 2017) in collaboration with the Photographers Gallery, London have all supported, developed, and promoted students and recent graduates to help them realize their potential.
The BarTur Photo Award is now open for submission from the 22nd October 2020 until the 22nd April 2021, 11:59 GMT.
COVID has affected everyone this year. Here at the BarTur Photo Award, we are very aware that photographers have been especially hit by the pandemic, and because of this we have decided to bare all of the costs for the 2021 award and make the competition COMPLETELY FREE to enter no matter if you would like to submit 1, 5 or 10 images into our main award.
For this years' Main Award there are three themes, Climate Change, Unity in Diversity and Human Love.
In 2021 we have also added two new awards; $1,500 BarTur Award for Faces of Humanity and the BarTur Award for Excellence in Photo Journalism in Partnership with Leica Magazine.
There is also a Student Competition which is free to enter. The BarTur Photo Award classes students as those currently enrolled on an accredited Further Education (FE) or Higher Education (HE) course at any University in the world. Students who are part of certain workshops or other educational programmes maybe eligible to apply and should contact The Bar-Tur Photo Award for more information.
