Application
All international applicants are most welcome to send their portfolio to the HFBK Hamburg! The application and selection process is practically the same for international as it is for German applicants. There are however some additional documents to be submitted, such as translations of certificates, and the proof of proficiency in the German language.
The consecutive Bachelor/Master degree programme “Fine Arts” at the HFBK Hamburg covers all major areas of study. So you apply for the Bachelor of Fine Arts or the Master of Fine Arts, regardless of which major you choose. The regular study period is 8 semesters for the bachelor's degree programme and 4 semesters for the subsequent master's degree programme.
The next application period for the year 2026 is from 4 February to 5 March 2026, 4 pm (cut-off deadline).
You also have the opportunity to apply for the doctoral programme at the HFBK. The application period for doctoral studies for the summer semester 2026 is from 1 September to 14 October 2025, 4 pm (cut-off deadline).
