Artist in Residence-Space during the Graduate Show 2023
Venue:
- Artist in Residence-Space der HFBK, 213, 213 a/b + 214 Lerchenfeld
In the Artist in Residence-Space of the HFBK Hamburg (2nd floor: staircase area, rooms 213, 213 a/b, room 214) international Artists in Residence of the summer semester 2023 and their students will exhibit their works: Termeh Yaghoubi (Tehran), Nelson Ijakaa Imo (Nairobi) Prof. Iswanto Hartono & Prof. Reza Afisina (Jakarta / Kassel).
Termeh Yaghoubi has been a Martin Roth Initiative scholarship holder at the HFBK Hamburg since April 2023. In her work, she combines traditional visual language with contemporary influences and explores metamorphoses of humans, especially women, in different environments and under different influences.
Nelson Ijakaa is a guest lecturer in the department of Time-based Media. Together with his students, he investigates recent advances in the field of generative image models and extended reality technologies. The focus is on the drastic changes that "artificial intelligence" brings to people's everyday lives and working lives, especially in the artistic and creative fields. The seminar's extended reality installations invite critical discussion of the "digital trust" between people, devices and software, and the institutions that distribute them.
Iswanto Hartono and Reza Afisina are DAAD visiting professors at the HFBK in the winter and summer semesters of 2023 and, together with their class, provide an insight into their collective work processes. With the "Living Room" they have created a decentralised, alternative, mutually supportive organism of initiatives and individuals. Here, experiences and perspectives can be exchanged and learning can take place together and from each other by sharing time, space and skills.
