Experiences by participating students
Natalie Andruszkiewicz, Jahrgang 2018
Overall, my stay was particularly rich in many fruitful experiences. I believe that even if these specific experiences had not occurred, other opportunities would have arisen, as Japan itself is not only visually very captivating but also significantly influences one's artistic practice through new ways of thinking and influences. For me personally, I can say that I could not have gained these valuable experiences for my work anywhere else.
Tips & tricks for the semester abroad (as of 2018)
Let's talk about language!
Natalie Andruszkiewicz:
In general, it is important for future exchange students to bear in mind that teaching in the Cultural Design Department at Kindai is in Japanese and that the Japanese course there is not sufficient for the language level of the lectures. This made the contact with Tetsuya Goto, the professor responsible for the exchange, all the more valuable, as he was very supportive during the semester and also translated the lessons.
At Kindai, all exchange students have the opportunity to attend Japanese courses at the university free of charge. This made it easier for me to get to know the students and facilitated a better exchange.
