Members of the Präsidium
Prof. Martin Köttering studied cultural sciences and aesthetic praxis at the Universität Hildesheim and visual art in Bath, England. He worked as Jan Hoet’s assistant during documenta 9 and as director of the Städtischen Galerie in Nordhorn and director of the open-air kunstwegen museum project. Since 2002 he has been president of the HFBK Hamburg.
Prof. Ingo Offermanns has been elected vice president with area of responsibility International+Diversity in June 2019 and is Professor of Graphic Art at the HFBK.
Prof. Dr. Bettina Uppenkamp is Professor of Theory of Art at the HFBK Hamburg since winter semester 2017/2018. Since June 2019, she is also vice president with the area of responsibilty Research+Teaching of the HFBK.
Dr Sandra Barth is a psychologist and computational linguist and has been Chancellor of the HFBK since August 2024. In previous positions, she worked in personnel development and personnel management at the University of Hamburg and most recently as Head of Human Resources at the University of Cologne.
Tasks assigned to the Präsidium
The Präsidium directs this institute of higher education. It also negotiates and concludes agreements on aims and achievements with the Wissenschaftsbehörde (scientific ministry). In structuring issues, it has the right to commit to initiatives and a right of proposal for the University council. The Präsidium is responsible for the development of structural and planning issues to arrive at a strategic orientation and for making decisions in areas of conflict. It appoints professors and authorizes rules of examination and study. The panel is also responsible for the (financial) control and reporting system of all areas of the University.
