Call for proposals NEUSTART KULTUR - Kickstarter grants for Master's graduates of the HFBK
The Hamburg University of Fine Arts is awarding a total of € 329,000 in funding to MFA graduates to help them get started as freelance visual artists. The NEUSTART KULTUR special funding programme is jointly implemented by the Stiftung Kunstfonds and the Kunsthochschulenrektor*innenkonferenz (RKK).
In October 2021 the Hamburg University of Fine Arts has offered a total of 47 Kickstarter grants of €7,000 each to its Master's graduates of the graduation years 2019, 2020 and 2021. The funding programme is intended to support graduates' plans to establish their own art and to start freelancing. The grants are start-up funding for all expenses that support the start of a successful professional activity as a freelance visual artist. Costs for material and digital equipment required for research, conception or realisation of artistic ideas are possible, as are expenses to make one's own art known and to develop networks, as well as for marketing strategies in digital and analogue form.
All graduates of the HFBK who completed their MFA in 2019, 2020 and 2021 were eligible to apply. The funded visual artists must be exmatriculated and have been permanently resident in Germany since at least 1.1.2019. The basis for the application was, among other things, the project description of an artistic work project.
The award is made by an internal HFBK jury. The criteria are the comprehensibility and coherence of the submitted documents, the quality of the artistic works and the proposed work projects.
The decisions are expected to be communicated by e-mail in December 2021. The scholarships will then be paid out by the Stiftung Kunstfonds.
