It was definitely a big change to suddenly live on a campus, away from a big city. My apartment was absolutely fine for the time I was there, and my roommates were very nice, and we had a good living arrangement.
The structure at the college is less hierarchical than at the HFBK; the faculty seemed more on equal footing and was generally motivated and interested. I think I was perhaps lucky with my mentor, who supported me not only in the studio but also on a personal level.
One special feature worth highlighting is the opportunity to take courses in other departments (theater, music, literature, etc.). For example, I attended a course on feminist literature in the literature department.

My wishes in this regard have been largely fulfilled. I was able to learn a lot about printing techniques. Both in the art historical and applied fields, I gained a great deal and I recommend this school to everyone interested in printmaking.
The visits to the ateliers of the many guest lecturers impressed me incredibly, and I received a lot of positive feedback on my work.
In conclusion, I can say that I was definitely glad to be part of the exchange. I learned a lot and now appreciate certain aspects of my own school — and I also know which opportunities I definitely need to take advantage of.

College and New York changed me a lot. The exchange has been a very memorable experience. Most importantly, I made many new friends while living in the campus, Alexander H.being one of them and now my best friend. We have kept in touch and worked together even now. I think this was the most rewarding part of my exchange.
