2.00 - 5.00 pm: Start of the workshop programmes
1. screen printing workshop in Ulrike Wittern's and Blanka Gyori's printing workshop (production of Din A5 folding card series, approx. 10 cards per person. Costs for paper/colour per person: 18 euros)
In this workshop you will learn about the technique of screen printing - a process that can be used to transfer motifs onto paper and other materials. After an introduction to the basic techniques, you will learn step by step how to develop simple shapes and graphics that are perfect for screen printing. You will have the opportunity to turn your own ideas into creative print motifs and print your own personalised designs on cards.
2. ‘Immersive Storytelling Through Film and Movement’ - Performance workshop in the Extended Library with Priyanka Sarkar and Zahra (Bahar) Ensafi (in English)
In this interactive workshop we will dive into the world of body expression as a medium for storytelling, identity and emotion. Together we will discover how movement becomes a stage to bring personal and universal themes to life. We start with a selection of inspiring films and videos that open the way for practice and stimulate ideas. We will then teach the basics for performances in front of the camera (on your own smartphone) and on stage.
3. sculpture workshop ‘Weiterdenken’ with Lyn van Ghent and Eda Akin in connection with the sculpture exhibition ‘The elephant in the room, in the room the elephant’ by HFBK students.
The exhibition deals with ‘invisible’ topics - i.e. problems or topics that are often in the room but are rarely addressed directly. In the workshop, we will explore together how artists take up such hidden themes and express them in sculptures or objects. We ask ourselves: How can such invisible things be made tangible in space? Based on the students' work, we will design our own sculptures and objects - with simple means and plenty of room for creativity.
