Satch Hoyt is a visual artist and musician, currently living in Berlin. His practice is related to the Transnational African Diaspora, and it is centered in the cultural and political role of sonicity. His sculptures and installations are accompanied with sound while his paintings and drawings can be read and performed as graphic scores. His work has been presented, among others, in Respect Hip Hop Style and Wisdom, Oakland Museum of California (2018); Dak’Art Biennial (2018) and Documenta 14 (2017). Recent performances include Hair Combing Cycle (2017) He is currently working on two albums: Afro Sonic Mapping with collaborators from Luanda Angola. and Salvador Brasil., and Cleopatra’s Chariot a limited edition performance with Earl Harvin and Film collaboration with Jordan Maurs. His upcoming show Afro-Sonic Mapping at HKW, Berlin (2019) was made possible with the support by Haus der Kulturen der Welt. As part of the long-term project „Kanon-Fragen“. Supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media due to a ruling of the German Bundestag.
Non-knowledge, Laughter and the Moving Image ist ein künstlerisches Forschungsprojekts unter der Leitung von Annika Larsson. Das projekt ist gefördert durch das Swedish Research Council in Zusammenarbeit mit RIA - Royal Institute of Art Stockholm und der HFBK- Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg.
