The working world of artists has changed significantly in recent years. In response to this, the HFBK aims to equip its graduates with knowledge and skills that will facilitate their confident professional positioning in the art field. The design of the professionalization program is aimed in particular at freelance artists and provides for the teaching of professional field-related knowledge that is necessary for the complex requirements of an independent artistic activity.

The aim is to be able to act in the art field in an informed and self-confident manner, thus making the transition from study to professional life smoother. Professionalization is connected to ICAT, which bundles the HFBK’s research activities and sustainably introduces artistic issues into current social discourses.

The free offer, which is aimed at students in their final year as well as graduates of the HFBK (students in the master’s program, doctoral students and alumni/alumnae) up to five years after graduation, includes information events, lectures and workshops on the topics of artistic positioning, presentation, financing, networking, management, law and contracts, marketing, social security and taxes. We will also be happy to advise you on individual questions within these areas, review your portfolio together, and answer questions about your application documents. In individual cases, experts from art-related fields can be consulted to answer specific questions.
