Conditions of participation
For HFBK outgoings, the ASA program comprises two phases: one semester of dedicated participation as a “buddy” in the student exchange in Hamburg and a further semester for a study visit abroad at one of the partner universities.
Supporting an ASA incoming in Hamburg as a “buddy” is a central component of the exchange; a guest abroad should also be a host at home.
Being a “buddy” includes, among other things
picking up the incomings from the airport/train station and handing over the welcome folder with all documents,
joint exploration of the ASA residence and its surroundings,
supporting the incomings in registering at the district office, opening an account and, if necessary, taking out health insurance,
support with initial orientation at the university and in Hamburg
information about and, if necessary, accompaniment to exhibitions in Hamburg,
participation in the ASA Open Studios including set-up and dismantling,
support with problems.
The acceptance for the stay abroad can be withdrawn if the sponsorship is not carried out reliably and with commitment.
Successful participation in the ASA program is concluded with a final report (approx. 2 A4 pages and photo or mixed-media documentation).
Application
HFBK students can apply for an ASA scholarship twice a year: In May for an exchange in the summer semester of the following year, in November for an exchange in the winter semester of the following year.
Important when applying for ASA
Please fill out the online application form completely and carefully in German or English. After you have submitted the application form, you will receive a link to a cloud and a link for downloading the cover sheet of the letter of motivation.
Please upload ONE pdf file to cloud consisting of
your artistic portfolio,
a letter of motivation, explaining your individual reasons for choosing your preferred university(ies)
your CV and
the letter of recommendation from your HFBK professor
Please name the file according to this scheme: Lastname_Firstname.pdf
The files must not be larger than 10 MB in total.
Selection
The members of the AG Internationales decide on the awarding of scholarships.
