Legal violations are often first noticed by employees. Out of fear of retaliation, many do not dare to report such violations. Whistleblowers now receive better protection:

The EU Directive 2019/1937 (EU Whistleblower Protection Directive) and the Whistleblower Protection Act aim to protect individuals who report information about violations of EU law. Against this background, HFBK Hamburg has established an Internal Reporting Office where employees of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg can report indications of legal violations that fall within the scope of these regulations and that occurred within the area of responsibility of the Internal Reporting Office (HFBK Hamburg). The identities of reporting persons and third parties mentioned in the report are treated confidentially as a matter of principle. In this way, reporting persons are also protected from impermissible disadvantages such as bullying, poor evaluations, or other professional consequences.

The shared goal is to investigate reported violations and eliminate them.

You are welcome to contact the Internal Reporting Office in advance of making a report to obtain further information.
