Can Machines paint? Artificial Intelligence in the Contemporary Arts - The End of Human Creativity?
Venue:
- HFBK Hamburg, Hörsaal (Le 229)
In their lecture "Can Machines Paint? Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence in the Context of the Contemporary Arts" Charlie Stein examines their role as a contemporary artist in the context of the rise of ubiquitous AI Technology.
By introducing their own artistic approach, Stein sheds light on the meaning of this technology specifically for art practitioners and lays out some of the inherent risks and chances of using AI in an artistic practice.
A central theme of the lecture is to critically reflect on whether there is a possibility to see human art production independently from the technological conditions of its time and how authenticity can look like in a future where the mimicry will be indistinguishable from the original.
