Hamburg Open Science
As part of the Hamburg Open Science (HOS) initiative, Hamburg's universities developed a series of projects from 2018-2020 that aim to make scientific research results and data accessible to the public as well as to other researchers*. In the individual projects, new approaches to open access publications were developed, repositories for research data were established, and the digital transformation at the universities was accompanied. As of 2019, the HFBK Hamburg was also part of Hamburg Open Science. Together with the Digital/Material Workshop, 3D scanning methods were tested for capturing artistic objects and the audiovisual documentation of performances. On the one hand, the aim was to develop technical processes with which the delicacy and materiality of an artistic sculpture can be appropriately mapped; on the other hand, procedures were also to be developed with which not only individual objects, but also installations, exhibitions or ephemeral events can be documented in their spatiality and temporality. In this context, the Online Gallery of the HFBK was established.
Another sub-project was already created in 2022 in the form of an artistic research repository. The repository aims to give artists and theorists the opportunity to add an additional dimension to their work through cross-connections and contextualization.
