Commune Conversations pairs thinkers and makers from disparate disciplines to discuss emergent ideas of community within an increasingly fractured world. The series focuses on the structures and protocols of diverse gatherings and communal groups, emphasizing the visible and invisible power dynamics that serve to organize them. Each event pairs two invited guests—from fields including art, design, architecture, sociology, organizing, technology, and speculative fiction—who are meeting for the first time, moderated by curator and designer Prem Krishnamurthy. These events take place on Wednesdays from 10 June through 1 July 2020 on a customized Jitsi “stage” that questions the display and normative expectations of virtual social interactions.
Commune is a project by Prem Krishnamurthy with students of Klasse Digitale Grafik from HFBK Hamburg, within the framework of Hamburg Open Online University.
