Studying art opens up many opportunities for development and growth, but it also presents a variety of challenges. Personal and study-related uncertainties, difficulties, or stressful situations are a natural part of everyday student life for many students. A counseling session can provide relief, allow you to gain perspective on deadlocked situations, and help you regain the freedom to act on your own behalf.
The HFBK's psychosocial counseling service is open to all students as a point of contact and initial consultation. It offers a safe space to discuss individual concerns, sort through thoughts, and develop new perspectives.
The counseling service can provide support in areas such as
- study-related and personal issues,
- dealing with challenges, uncertainties, and conflicts,
- feelings of being overwhelmed and overburdened,
- identity and orientation issues,
- difficulties in working with teachers and other students,
- transitions during the course of study or upon graduation,
- specific problems of international students,
- experiences of discrimination and exclusion (e.g., ableism, classism, anti-Semitism, racism, sexism).
Even if you are not yet able to clearly articulate your concerns, you are still welcome to come. If necessary, we can refer you to further services.
The counseling is free of charge, confidential, and anonymous. Conversations can be held in German or English.
